On April 12th, another OCRFA’s STS presentation at San Diego State University (SDSU) Nursing School! Facilitator Barbara H reports, “Great class, very engaged by stories and information. Our President/Co-Founder Peg F, invited and attended the 2018 Nursing Advisory Board Meeting hosted at Grossmont College the morning of April 20th. In attendance were Nursing Deans from several schools we do presentations over the years: Grossmont College, San Diego City College, Azusa National Pacific University, and San Diego State University. She met representatives from National University and Grand Canyon University who are interested in implementing the OCRFA’s Survivors Teaching Students (STS) Program in their schools!
A first for our five-year public community outreach program HEAR: We did our presentation for the wonderful Professional Education Organization Group….in a big beautiful home in the middle of an orange grove in Escondido!! Cindy Silver, Facilitator, reports, “What a wonderful attentive group of women! Today was Jackie S’s first HEAR presentation and she did a fabulous job. She brought some of the group to tears with her inspirational story…me too.” We also want to thank the PEO Group for their donation to OCAofSD. It is greatly appreciated.
Our annual OCRFA’s STS Program presentation to San Diego City College on April 23rd. Facilitator, Barbara H reports, “The class was engaged in the information and survivors’ stories. Co-Founders, Peg F and Kathy H (photo below) represented OCAofSD at Soroptomist International of Coronado’s (SIC) Annual Legends Luncheon recently on April 28th. SIC has been such a great supporter of our efforts by awarding in 2016 Best for Women Grant and Peg F was honored as a 2016 Legend at their luncheon in 2016!
Our final OCRFA’s STS Presentation at UCSD School of Medicine for third year medical students for school year 2017-2018! Already have the dates for school year 2018-2019 starting in June which is will be our tenth consecutive school year, presenting every six weeks on their OB/GYN Rotation! Peg F, just returned from Washington DC attending back-to-back workshops as Patient Advocate: Duke-Susan G. Komen “Fundamentals Workshop for Patient Advocates” and FDA/AACR/ASCO/Susan G. Komen/Duke University “Accelerating Anticancer Agent Development and Validation Workshop” May 1st to 4th, 2018.
